Research

With its various research focuses, the Institute of Aircraft Propulsion Systems at the University of Stuttgart aims at describing and simulating the conduct of complex systems.

Our aim

All of the institute’s experiments and studies – even those dealing with detailed technical problems – are conducted to result in an improved description of the researched overall system.

Research at the ILA covers the areas of life cycle analysis, condition monitoring, structural mechanics, and aeronautical propulsion systems of the future.

Based on overall system competency the Institute of Aircraft Propulsion Systems develops client-oriented solutions for the engine and turbo-machinery industry. A professorship – sponsored by MTU Aero Engines – focuses on the research area structural mechanics.
